Welcome to Lochancroft

Self-catering accommodation in Wigtown, Scotland's National Book Town.

THE PROPERTY ADJACENT TO THIS BUILDING CURRENTLY ON THE MARKET, FOR A LOOK CLICK HERE.

We've just been accepted to join Alastair Sawday's Special Escapes, have a look here to see their us on their site.

The restored seventeenth century croft contains a mix of modern design and traditional furnishings. The land around the croft was developed in the 19th Century and the building is now part of a terraced street, Lochancroft Lane, named after the croft. The apartment is on the first floor. For a virtual tour click here.

There are two bedrooms; a double bedroom with superking size bed and a twin room with two single beds, there's also a folding bed in the sitting room. In the bathroom the roll-top Victorian bath is perfect for a long soak and the kitchen has all the essentials with the added luxury of a dishwasher and a capuccino maker. There's a TV, DVD player and stereo in the sitting room, and downstairs in the hall there's a small laundry room with washing machine. The flat has a wireless broadband connection free of charge, and will have a wood burning stove by the winter. We'll post a notice when it has been installed.

There's storage space for walking boots, bikes, and jackets downstairs in the slate-floored hall. If you want to experience some of the best mountain bike trails in the country, or just explore the beautiful Galloway countryside on the quiet back roads, you can hire top quality mountain bikes from Kirroughtree visitor centre.

In the south-facing garden you'll find a range of plants which flourish here thanks to the warming influence of the Gulf Stream, as well as a paved area with a barbecue, and a lawn.

Lochancroft is ideally placed for exploring the Ancient Kingdom of Galloway, with hill walking, golf, mountain biking, forests, rivers, lochs and beaches all close by, and galleries, book shops, castles, ruins and museums in abundance.
